Various news websites and social media groups have recently been circulating reports claiming that the 2026 FIFA World Cup matches will be broadcast live and free of charge on the Lebanese national channel, “Tele Liban.”
In response to the growing confusion, the Factcheck Lebanon team at the Ministry of Information contacted the office of the Minister of Information to verify the authenticity of these claims.
Official Clarification from the Ministry
The Minister’s office has officially dismissed these reports, confirming that the information circulating online is “rife with inaccuracies, fabricated details, and malicious misinformation.”
Furthermore, the Ministry emphasized that any official developments regarding sports broadcasting rights or coverage plans will be announced formally through the office of the Minister of Information. They urged the public to disregard news originating from “suspicious or unofficial sources” that lack professional verification.
