Lebanon has officially entered the volatile “buffer zone” separating two diametrically opposed dynamics: the “Washington Framework Agreement” signed by the Lebanese state last Friday night, and the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding” which Tehran is aggressively attempting to impose as an alternative path. This violent regional clash has hit the domestic arena like a severe political and field earthquake, triggering a sharp vertical division that splits the country into two camps: a pro-state camp viewing the accord as an unavoidable step to reclaim sovereignty, and an opposition camp that issued a premature death certificate for the agreement, labeling it outright “sedition.”

While President of the Republic General Joseph Aoun races against time to cement the mandates of the fifth Washington round, the political and field apparatuses of the Iranian axis have launched a counter-offensive. This push betrays the scale of their panic after the Lebanese card was successfully pulled from Tehran’s hands by the “Joint Action Framework” engineered under the diplomacy of Marco Rubio.

A Stormy Hotline Between Berri and Ghalibaf: The Islamabad “Plot” Challenges Washington

The most prominent indicator of the intense U.S.-Iranian friction materialized in a stormy phone call between Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf. According to diplomatic sources who shared their exclusive insights with JNews Lebanon, the Iranian counter-attack seeks to completely ignore the Washington declaration and cling tightly to the “Tehran-Washington MoU,” which dictates an unconditional Israeli withdrawal within 60 days without any prior security constraints.

Speaker Berri, who summarized his stance on the Washington accord with the decisive phrase, “I read it… and I saw sedition in it,” confirmed in closed circles that the agreement in its current formula “cannot pass or be implemented because it is beyond the boundaries of logic.” He argued that it transforms Southern Lebanon into a “Gaza 2,” granting the occupation legitimate permanence in the Yellow Zone and tying the return of displaced citizens to total disarmament. Conversely, political circles speaking to our platform raised legitimate questions regarding statements made by the Iranian Supreme Leader’s advisor, who labeled Hezbollah the “guardian of Lebanon’s independence.” They strongly condemned this flagrant interference, pointing directly to the burning of “Lebanon First” banners along the Airport Road by the group’s supporters, who sought to replace them with “Iran First” slogans.

JNews Exclusive Scoop: Baabda’s Telegram to Yarzeh and the Firm Rejection of “U.S. Assessments”

High-level security sources have disclosed to JNews Lebanon the backstage details of a highly restricted security meeting held in recent hours between the presidential palace circles and the Army Command in Yarzeh. According to our exclusive data, President Joseph Aoun issued strict, uncompromising directives to military units to immediately prepare armor and hardware for deployment into the towns of “Zoutar al-Gharbiyeh” and “Froun” at the edge of the Litani River, marking the official launch of the “Model Zones” (Pilot Zones). President Aoun made it clear that the state will not bow to the policies of intimidation or the threats of purchasing weapons unleashed by MP Hassan Fadlallah.

Furthermore, our highly confidential sources confirm that the Army Command has drawn a thick red line regarding the dignity and sovereignty of the military institution. Yarzeh formally notified the American side through official channels of its absolute rejection of any clause hinting at subjecting the performance of Lebanese soldiers to a “U.S. or Israeli assessment” as a condition for withdrawal. A military source told our platform: “All personnel owe allegiance exclusively to the institution and the nation. The Army does not undergo evaluation by any foreign party. The field implementation in Froun and Zoutar will be a direct test of the occupation’s intentions, which is trying to salvage its image at our expense through a symbolic withdrawal from two tiny villages.”

Regional Earthquake: The “Zaidi” Blow in Iraq and Trump’s Eye on Baabda

This visible recession of the Iranian role cannot be isolated from the regional earthquake rocking Baghdad. U.S. President Donald Trump delivered his echoing sign-off to both President Joseph Aoun and Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi: “See you soon,” signaling a clear opening of the White House doors to two new allies shifting firmly into the U.S.-Gulf orbit. The shocking Iraqi raids and the arrest of 47 prominent figures—including 10 members of parliament accused of smuggling dollars and Iranian oil to fund armed factions—came to confirm that Washington has practically begun drying up the axis’s regional resources, leaving Tehran’s arms in Beirut entirely exposed.

Between Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea welcoming the agreement as “the greatest opportunity handed to Lebanon in 50 years,” and Hezbollah threatening an internal explosion, the coming hours will be field-critical. This is especially true as the “Pentagonal Committee” (U.S., Iran, Pakistan, Qatar, Lebanon) mobilizes for an emergency meeting in Doha to gather the shrapnel before the “Big Implosion” scenario takes place.
