The US military announced the completion of its latest wave of airstrikes targeting multiple strategic sites inside Iran, affirming that the operation was a direct response to what it termed “ongoing and unprovoked Iranian aggression.”
In an official statement, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that its forces completed additional defensive strikes against multiple targets within Iranian territory, executed under the direct guidance of President Donald Trump.
According to CENTCOM, the airstrikes specifically targeted Iranian military surveillance capabilities, communication networks, and air defense systems across various regions. The operation involved coordinated precision munitions deployed by the US Marine Corps, Air Force, and Navy, aiming to neutralize sites identified as direct threats to US personnel and international commercial vessels navigating through regional waters.
The Central Command concluded its statement by emphasizing that US forces “remain vigilant, robust, and ready” to confront any further developments.
The United States initiated this latest round of airstrikes on Wednesday evening, marking the second consecutive day of military action. CENTCOM declared the commencement of these “self-defense” operations against multiple targets inside Iran at 5:15 PM EST, reiterating that the measures were taken to counter “unprovoked and continuous Iranian aggression.”
On the other hand, Iran’s Mehr News Agency reported hearing powerful explosions in the southern cities of Minab and Sirik, alongside the activation of air defense systems in western Tehran, signaling a dangerous escalation in the direct military confrontation between Washington and Tehran.
